Irishmoor Cavaliers are proudly owned by Sue & Neil Ryan
and the prefex Irishmoor was established in 1983 after "learning
the ropes" before taking the initiative and breeding.
Sue,
along with her husband Neil (who is a Gundog Judge) successfully
exhibited and bred Irish Setters for many years.
Many Australian
Champions proudly carry the prefix Irishmoor and a few have
been fortunate enough to achieve the ultimate win of "Best
In Show", at all Breeds and Specialty Shows. Another
proud achievement was breeding Best of Breed and Reserve challenge
dogs at the 1997 Sydney Royal Easter Show, and a few years
later Gundog Best in Group at the Melbourne Royal Show.
Irishmoor have
the honour of being the first Irish Setter breeder in NSW
to import frozen semen from the USA (Courtwood Kennels) and
successfully breed through artificial insemination, two litters
of nine and seven pups respectively. The progeny of this breeding
went on to become top winners and proudly represent the two
countries of their ancestors. One of these dogs from the "K"
litter attained his Grand Champion title in April 2003 (1000
challenge points), Grand Ch. Irishmoor Ketari (A.I.) owned
and handled by Vic Gray. We at Irishmoor congratulate "Rocky"
and Vic on their latest Achievement. They have continually
made us proud and have shared the news of many big wins over
the years.
In 1995 Sue
& Neil scaled down the “Big Dog” side of their
lives and happily settled upon the beautiful Cavalier King
Charles Spaniel as an alternative breed to exhibit and breed
in the Irishmoor prefix. Daughter Teigan, who is now 13yrears
old, has been successfully handling not only our own dogs
in the show ring for several years but is often called upon
to handle other exhibitors Cavaliers too. Both Sue and Teigan
enjoy training the dogs for the obedience trial ring, and
more recently our new fun activity of agility training.
Neil, who still
holds his Gundog Judging License, prefers to spend his leisure
time fishing or developing his Sportfishing
web site (for those who also like to drop a line).
